A FREE CONCERT commemorating the 1916 Centenary will take place in Castlemahon Community Hall on Friday, February 5.
Featuring a host of local musicians, dancers and performers, the concert is part of the nationwide commemoration of the anniversary of the 1916 Rising.
“There is a full programme of events planned nationwide to celebrate the centenary and this concert is one of the flagship events for the West Limerick area,” explained organiser Donie O’Connor.
He said that the event will focus on Ireland’s rich heritage of music, poetry, song and dance and will be a family-friendly event.
Performers on the night include Newcastle West Pipe Band, Draoicht & Friends, Susan Burke Choir, Liam Broderick, Trad Time, Desmond College and many more.
A free bus service will run from Newcastle West Town Square at 7pm and will return to the square after the concert.
The concert will commence at 8pm sharp and refreshments will be served on the night.
