FIRE REGULATION & CRIME PREVENTION

Next Tuesday night, December 6th, Newcastle West & District Chamber of Commerce is hosting a very important meeting in the Courtenay Lodge Hotel. The topics being covered are Fire Prevention, Legal Obligations for compliance with Fire Regulations and Crime Prevention for Home & Business. The speakers on the night will be Garda Superintendant Dan Flavin and Assistant Chief Fire Officer Seamus Barrett. All are welcome to attend, as there will be very useful advice available on the night, facing into both the winter and the Christmas season. Meeting starts at 6 p.m. sharp. FESTIVE FAMILY DAY DECEMBER 17th

The Chamber is currently finalising plans for a "Festive Family Day" on Saturday December 17th to encourage and promote SHOP LOCAL this Christmas season. There will be a festive Market at the Red Door with extended opening hours. The Desmond Castle will be open to the public all day. The Newcastle West Pipe Band will perform on the day in the Square, along with Christmas carol singing, a battle re-enactment in the Castle grounds, and of course Santa Claus will pop by to say hello to all the kids. Complimentary refreshments, including mulled wine will also be served. Our thanks in advance to all the local businesses who are contributing to make this a very festive event in our County town. It is hoped that this initiative will encourage shoppers to buy their Christmas gifts locally to support local businesses and local jobs.
